Stage Manager and Set Design Vincent McGillick
‘In one of his best portraits of his stage career to date (Mr. Dick Stapleton) brings to perfection the comedy-veneered malice and cupidity of Thomasheen, the matchmaker. His deep voice and flawless delivery add considerably to this complete actor’s success. Mr. Michael O’Brien’s playing Mike Glavin is a fine straight forward piece of work, the simple directness of his interpretation always being convincing. The role of Sean Dota, the anything but gay suitor for Sive’s hand is expertly handled by Mr. Richard Healy, whose gestures and mannerisms are well sustained. Mr. Vincent McGillick led the back stage crew in his usual capable manner. The set was exactly right for a cottage kitchen in a remote mountainy part of Co. Kerry. In attendance was the Minister for Posts and Telegraph, Mr. M. Hilliard, T.D.’
